SOCIAL INNOVATION PROJECTS

Omal’s social initiatives are conceived to support local schools thanks to the engagement of our employees. They are helping NGOs, public institutions and different socially-oriented organizations. Every initiative concurs to a process of shared engagement, which Omal wants to deliver from its own territory of Franciacorta (BS) to everywhere else.

The “L’Impresa dei Piccoli” project is an educational initiative covering the topics of Sustainable Enterprise and Corporate Responsibility that has involved all the managers of Omal’s operational units in delivering:

  • A course dedicated to the fourth and fifth years of primary schools, to provoke conversations about the environment, ecology and “inventions that benefit nature”. The course involved both traditional lessons and also in-house art workshops. Notably, work groups were formed on the themes of wording, reusing waste material, paint and decorated paper.
  • A course dedicated to the third year of secondary school, for familiarizing with the typical functions and duties of a company (IT, COMMUNICATION, SALES, TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT). The initiative enabled us to speak about “the role of a business”, helping the kids to understand some of the roles and duties that could be part of their future career.

The “Volontariato di comunità” project is an initiative that involves all of Omal’s employees that want to help their territory with their own hands. This annual project involves the possibility of dedicating up to 16 working hours - during working days - to helping associations, public bodies and non-profit organisations that deal with assisting and caring for babies, the elderly and the disabled. The project is open to all business functions and is always evolving so as to meet the needs of our territory and best match the needs of the entities involved with Omal employees’ available time. In March 2017, the Omal volunteers traversed Italian borders and worked alongside a partner of ours in India, with whom we produced English video-lessons aimed at exploring aspects of Indian and Italian culture such as food and festivals. Such lessons had been recorded simultaneously in Rodengo Saiano primary school (Brescia) and Chennai primary school (India).

The “Corporate Art” project used the language of art to articulate some themes of corporate change that today’s market and technology are asking us to address. Through street art and theatre, Omal represented some concepts that will characterise its near future. Teamwork, market internationalization, food security and intergenerational responsibility were just a few of the trends that occupied the walls in the form of murals. Upon completion of the works - some in the new production site, others at the original headquarters – a workshop event took place, in which Omal’s employees participated in the creation of a street-art painting.
